Summary of Duties:

Complete the underwriting to allow approval of residential mortgage loan products including Home Mortgage Loans. Assist department manager with review of new files for compliance accuracy and implementation of new regulatory changes.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible in approving or declining loan application for residential mortgages.
  • Analyze and evaluate income, asset, credit, and collateral to ensure adherence to Bryant Bank prevailing lending standards, policies and procedures; investor and agency guidelines for residential mortgage loans.
  • Reviews loan files for all necessary forms and information according to FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and Bryant Bank underwriting guidelines and policy.
  • Reviews all new application files for compliance accuracy – RESPA (TRID); Reg. “Z” TIL; Reg. “C” HMDA; Reg. “B” ECOA; FACTA; and Government Monitoring
  • Keeps informed of current underwriting practices and assists in updating the financial institution’s underwriting policies
  • Keeps informed of upcoming regulatory changes, effective dates and writes and implements procedures (compliance and underwriting)
  • Provides accurate and adequate documentation for loan files and completes the approval form for committee review.
  • Communicates loan decisions to lenders.
  • Assist in HMDA data input review
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required by the position.

Position Requirements:

At a minimum, the candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • 5-10 years front-line underwriting experience with 3-5 years recent manual underwriting experience of residential mortgages.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae underwriting and appraisal guidelines with LP/DU proficiency.
  • Understanding of TILA /RESPA (TRID), ATR and QM regulations.
  • Strong analytical and decision making/problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Proficient in LOS systems, Microsoft Office and Excel. Ability to adapt/learn/utilize a variety software programs. Paperless environment experience desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with bank staff and customers in order to maximize client satisfaction

Mortgage Loan Processor

Description & Requirements

The Mortgage Loan Processor obtains necessary information (i.e. loan applications, credit documents, appraisals, etc.) to process and complete mortgage loan files. Provide quality, accurate and timely customer service (internal and external) involving daily processing of mortgage loans, which include the duties and responsibilities described herein.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process new mortgage loan applications; input new loan data into loan software programs and investor automated underwriting systems.
  • Review and analyze credit documentation; compile information and update credit as needed to comply with investor approval requirement and prepare loans for underwriting.
  • Monitor status of loans in pipeline on regular basis; communicate with originators, borrowers, real estate agents and appraisers.
  • Maintain loan submission register; confirm lock-in sheets with secondary market; order flood certificates and process cancelled loan files and refund checks.
  • Comply with bank policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and investor guidelines. Prepare and submits closing instructions to attorneys
